Where a face to face interview isn’t possible, we interview via video.

We aim to empower and respect our employees and recognise that their health and wellbeing are critical to our success. We support this in the following ways:
We offer clinical supervision for all front-line staff, ensuring that they are supported with the work that they do, helping women and children to deal with trauma. We also offer counselling sessions to staff that may need additional support.

We have an Employee Assistance Programme, including online resources and a 24 hour confidential telephone helpline. We have regular Away Days and evening events for the whole organisation to come together, celebrate successes, share learning and have fun together! We have an active Social Committee in place and organise regular social events during the year, including film nights and shared lunches.

We also have an Employee Engagement Group in place, made up of representatives from across Advance, to enhance communication between employees and the Senior Leadership Team.

We value the work of passionate and committed volunteers (women aged 18+) who enable us to provide the life-saving and life-changing support that women and girls need. We welcome and value volunteers’ involvement and the contribution they make to Advance, through their skills, experience and energy.

Volunteering benefits you too, through meeting new people and learning new skills, as well as knowing that you have made a real difference to women and children, helping them to be safe and rebuild their lives.

We recruit volunteers for the following:

  • Our Helplines for Domestic Abuse and Criminal Justice services
  • As peer mentors at our London Women’s Centres in Hammersmith and Finsbury Park
  • Office work supporting the teams in our offices in Hammersmith, London (including but not only fundraising, marketing, finance, data insights)

We offer you the following opportunities:

  • To contribute to our work at Advance, helping us end violence and abuse against women and girls
  • To develop skills and experience, including in areas such as fundraising and communications
  • Training and support, and an opportunity for development

We expect from our volunteers:

  • A minimum commitment of at least three months (and at least 7 hours a week) for those in the office
  • A minimum commitment of at least twelve months (and at least 4 hours a week) for those working on the helpline or as peer mentors
