The women are supported by Advance, and the Domestic Abuse Family Law Clinic is provided by lawyers from Davis Polk and trained Students from LSE Legal Advice Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
The clinic supports across a wide range of issues that domestic abuse survivors need expert help with.
These include enforcement of court orders that are being breached; non-molestation orders; child contact arrangements and divorce.
Support from the clinic might also include general advice on court procedures, which can feel daunting and complex if not explained, and next steps for the women when their appointments with the clinic come to an end.
Women who have no recourse to public funds and are not eligible for legal aid or benefits are prioritised by the Legal Advice Clinic.
