Our four Strategy 2023-2026 aims are:
Women and children in our communities have access to wraparound support across all their needs, for as long as they need it.
Early interventions for young women and girls affected by domestic abuse and violence, so that they are empowered to make informed choices and access support at the earliest point
Raise awareness and campaign for systems change to address the prevalence and scale of the impact of domestic abuse and the criminal justice system on women.
Support those working for and with Advance to be leaders, change makers and advocates for women and girls.
Niki Scordi, CEO of Advance said:
“Every day, women and girls continue to fight for the right to be safe in our relationships, our families, our homes and communities.
- 1 in 4 girls born today will be a victim of domestic abuse.
- 1 girl or woman will be killed every 3 days in the UK, and many more will end their lives due to it.
Women tell us they want the abuse to stop, the perpetrator to be held to account, and for the system to stand with them, including those criminalised often linked to their abuse. They want to recover from the devastating impact of the abuse and trauma, and be part of their community. It is not enough to survive; women and girls want to thrive. Their voices and needs are at the centre of our strategy and our vision of a safe, just and equal world for women and girls.
Over the past three years, there has been greater awareness of women’s lack of safety due to domestic abuse and sexual violence, following the pandemic, the murders of Sarah Everard, Sabina Nessa and others, and reviews into police culture affecting public trust and confidence, highlighted in the Casey Review.
The public are asking for urgent action at a time where trust and confidence has been damaged. Women and girls are asking that we do better to protect them, so that they can trust the system and society again.
