This service supports children and young people aged 5–18 across Brent who have been affected by domestic abuse, are at risk of domestic abuse, or are showing signs of being affected by unhealthy relationships. The service aims to improve safety, support recovery and build resilience, helping young people to develop healthy relationships and reconnect with education, family life and emotional wellbeing.
Support is tailored by age and needs of each child and young person. This includes trauma-informed sessions for younger children, group programmes for children aged 7–14 alongside a non-abusive parent or carer, and one-to-one support for older young people or those identified as higher risk.
Parents and carers also receive support to help maintain safety and stability within the home. The service provides education and support around on healthy relationships, including topics such as consent, power dynamics, coercive control, and online abuse, with additional tailored support where needed.
Support and safety planning are tailored to each child or young person’s individual needs and circumstances. Risk and wellbeing are assessed using recognised approaches, alongside professional judgement and multi-agency partnership working where appropriate.
