Whole Justice Approach at the Old Bailey and AGM

Advance were pleased to host the “Her Story, Her Justice” event on Monday, 11th November at The Old Bailey; thank you to those who were able to join us.

The event was opened by Advance’s Chair, Christine Losecaat MBE and the keynote speaker, Nicole Jacobs, the new Domestic Abuse Commissioner, shared plans to improve the justice response to Domestic Abuse survivors.

Advance’s Chief Executive, Niki Scordi, and Director of VAWG Services, Melissa Altman, together with Sally Jackson, Partnership Manager of Standing Together, presented the “Her Story, Her Justice: Domestic abuse survivors and the criminal justice system” report, which can be read below

The review focused on amplifying the voices of sur vivors and sharing feedback from the criminal justice professionals and front-line advocates, and offered targeted recommendations including the ‘Whole Justice Approach’ model.

 

The Panel of Experts from the Metropolitan Police, Crown Prosecution Service and Local Authorities discussed the role of statutory partners in ensuring Domestic Abuse responses are centred on the survivors and based on a trauma-informed whole -system approach.
