Women and Neurodiversity: Intersectionality in Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and the Criminal Justice System (CJS)
Join us online for this insightful event exploring how neurodivergent women experience violence against women and girls (VAWG) and the criminal justice system. Drawing on recent research, the event will feature special panel speakers who will share, professional insight, and practical learning to support more inclusive and effective responses. Don’t miss out!
Panel speakers include:
Dr. Debra Allnock, Professor of Applied Social Research and Director of the Safer Young Lives Research Centre at the University of Bedfordshire. Dr. Allnock is the lead author of our recent research “Intersecting Needs: Neurodivergence, Gender, and Sexual Violence in Local Support Systems.”
Kavitha Ramakrishnan, Violence and Vulnerabilities Manager at the Safer Kingston Partnership, who collaborated closely with Dr. Allnock on the research and is currently exploring how to apply the findings and recommendations in Kingston.
Shira Tikochinsky, Advance’s new Neurodiversity Lead for Prison Services. Shira will be providing one‑to‑one support to the women we work with and developing professional training to strengthen understanding and practice around neurodiversity. We will also be joined by ambassadors who wish to share their stories and insights.
Our panel chair, Jessica Trick, Head of Evidence & Insights at Advance, will guide the conversation by posing questions to the panel before opening the discussion to the audience, who will be invited to put questions to any of our speakers.
