Commissioning and delivering specialist integrated VAWG services in a Coordinated Community Response

We are pleased to have hosted the ‘Whole VAWG Services Approach’ webinar about the Angelou Partnership’s innovative ‘best-practice’ model which aims to improve access to services and outcomes for survivors of violence and abuse

The webinar was chaired by Niki Scordi, CEO Advance and we were joined by keynote speaker Nicole Jacobs, Domestic Abuse Commissioner.

In 2015, ten VAWG specialist organisations formed an innovative service-delivery partnership and were supported by three London boroughs’ VAWG Strategic Partnership and joint commissioning, to deliver a multi-agency coordinated community response to survivors, through shared leadership and a strengths-based approach.

This national knowledge-sharing event included presentations by Melissa Altman, Director of VAWG Services Advance, Jess Asato, Head of Policy Safelives, Gudrun Burnet, CEO Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse, Shabana Kausar, Strategic VAWG Lead for the Boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster and experts from Angelou partner organisations.

We explored the principles, shared learnings and proposed best-practice models in developing and commissioning a multi-agency VAWG response to address the intersectional needs of survivors of abuse and the long-lasting and far-reaching impact on their lives, whilst holding perpetrators accountable.
